Hi, I’m Nikkey

I first fell in love with photography while I was in school for graphic design. For years, I worked with photos and video on the marketing and design side of things, wishing deep down that I was the one out in the field taking photos. But I don’t regret it, that time gave me the invaluable experience and insight I now use to partner thoughtfully with my clients and deliver assets and content that truly meet their goals.

I work in both land-based and underwater photography, using breath-hold diving to bring a unique perspective to my images. Ethical guidelines are super important to me; I always strive to photograph wildlife in a way that minimizes impact and keeps respect for nature at the forefront. I also write about wildlife and environmental issues for outdoor magazines, aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research and outdoor enthusiasts who care about making a difference.

I love to volunteer for ocean stewardship initiatives and run workshops on becoming ocean advocates and tackling plastic pollution. These workshops empower individuals to be part of the solution, and for me, it’s about closing the loop in my work. I want to inspire others through storytelling while also giving them tools to take action.

Ultimately, I believe we are nature, not separate from it. The connections people have with the outdoors—whether they’re surfers, divers, or just nature lovers—inspire me deeply. My work is all about capturing stunning landscapes, wildlife, and your sustainable products in action to evoke emotion and foster a sense of belonging to our environment.

When I’m not behind the camera, I’m likely out freediving in the kelp forest, tending to my tiny home garden, or trying out a new hobby—right now, it's surf skating! I truly value genuine connections and love working with brands and organizations that share my passion for the environment.

I’d love to hear about you and how I can help your business or organization make a positive impact! Send me an email.

PROJECTS

Be Seaworthy

My newest venture, Be Seaworthy is a project dedicated to tackling the rise of unethical wildlife content in social media. We create practical guides and training programs for photographers and media outlets, empowering them to document marine life responsibly while minimizing their impact.

Stay tuned for the launch in 2025!

COAST
WATCH

Coast Watch is an in-development citizen science program about the health of our local beaches and coastal waters. Regular monitoring gathers important information about water quality, beach conditions and how habitats are being used. This helps us highlight environmental challenges, from potential health risks for water lovers to bigger issues impacting the coastline.

But it’s not just about data—we’re here to inspire action! By bringing the community into the fold, Coast Watch empowers locals to step up as coastal stewards, fostering a sense of care, connection and responsibility.
